Bond of Caution by Alexander Grant younger of that Ilk binding and obliging himself as cautioner and surety acted in the Books of Adjournal that Patrik Grant of Rothiemurkus, James Grant in Croft of Rothiemurchus, William Grant, miller there, John Grant alias Makrobert in Inveray, George Grant, brother to Delrachnie, Mungo Grant of Mullochard, Robert Grant of Easter Duthell, George Grant of Inshlyne, Alexander Grant, merchant in Achterblair, James Grant and Ludowick Grant, brothers of Delrachny, James Grant in Dunachtoune, James Makgrigor in Lagagtegoune, Duncan Grant in Daucharne, Robert Grant, natural brother to Rothiemurcus, John Grant and James Grant, his sons, James Grant and John Grant, tenants in Rothiemurchus, Donald Grant and James Grant in Keanapole, Ewan Makgrigor and Duncan Makgrigor in Rothiemurchus, Grigor Makgrigor and Ewan Mackgrigor, there, William Cumeing, piper to the Laird of Grant, James Roy Grant in Boleadrin, Neill Grant and Patrick Grant, his brothers german, John Stwart in Aviemore, John Dow Makgilroy there, John Makissack in Agilochan and Patrick Roy Grant, son of Patrick Grant in Lethindie, shall, in obedience to the charge given them by John Makean, messenger-at-arms, at the instance of Alexander Shaw in Glenfeshie, forester to the Duke of Gordon, and Sir James Stuart of Goodtries, Her Majesties Advocate, compear before the Lords Justice General, Justice Clerk and commissioners of Justiciary within the tolbooth of Edinburgh on 14th June next to come to underly the law for the crimes of alledged convocation, violation of burial places etc., committed by them in manner mentioned in the criminal letters raised against them dated and signeted at Edinburgh 2nd March last: with clause of relief and of registration in the Books of Adjournal: At Castle Grant 22nd May 1708 |

In dorso:- Edinburgh 28 June 1708. The Lords Justice General, Justice Clerk and commissioners of Justiciary declare the granter to be in an unlaw of 5700 merks Scots for not presenting the person of Patrick Grant of Rothiemurchus and others to underly the law conform to his bond which is forfeited. The unlaw is to be disposed of as their lordships shall think fit and letters of horning are to be directed thereupon. (Signed) Cromertie, I.P.D. |
