Title |
Signature for a Charter under the Great Seal in favour of John Murray, merchant in Drumfreis, of the 3 merkland of Barnehoury and the miln of Barnehoury with mill-lands etc., lying in the parish of Colvend and Stewartry of Kirkcudbright: which lands formerly pertained to William Grierson of Bargattoune, who by disposition, dated 17 February 1704, disponed them to Murray and in terms of the procuratory of resignation therein they were resigned into the hands of the Lords of Exchequer in favour of Murray: to be held de me for the rights and services used and wont. The charter was to confirm inter alia the following writs, viz:- (1) Procuratory of Resignation by the deceased Agnes Gordon, daughter "or oye" of John Gordon of Over Culqhannand and relict of John Griersone of Burgattoun, in favour of herself and umquhile Robert McLellan of Nuntoun, her husband, and their heirs male, dated 24th June 1616; and (2) Charter of Resignation under the great seal following thereon dated 16 July 1616.
