Title |
Instrument of Sasine under the hand of John Grierson, clerk, of the diocese of Edinburgh, notary public, following upon and narrating the precept of sasine in a heritable bond of corroboration (dated at Edinburgh 28 May 1701) by Patrick Murray of Livingstoun, whereby he bound and obliged himself, in corroboration of a former bond granted by him to the deceased Henry Douglas, writer, Edinburgh, father of George Douglas of Friershaw, advocate, and to which the said George Douglas has right by disposition from his father, to infeft the said George Douglas in an annualrent of £162: 8: 8 Scots (or in an annualrent corresponding to the principal sum of 4440 merks 6 shillings and 8 pence Scots) furth of the lands and barony of Breich and the teinds thereof, with castle, mill etc., lying in the parish of Livingstoun and sheriffdom of Linlithgow, redeemable on payment of the principal sum etc., within the New Session House of Edinburgh "at that part thereof where the Commissars use to sit". It is declared that the foresaid principal sum of 4440 merks 6 shillings and 8 pence is exclusive of the sum of 1000 merks Scots contained in a bond (dated 13 July 1695) granted by the said Patrick Murray and John Bailly, chirurgeon apothecary, to the said Henry Douglas. Sasine given of said annualrent, on 17 March 1703, by Robert Fleeming, indweller in West Calder, bailie in that part, to Walter Fram, servant to Thomas Fleeming, clerk of West Calder, attorney for the said George Douglas |

Description |
Witnesses to the bond of corroboration, Mr. John Murray Jr., advocate, brother german of the granter, and Adam Moubray, servant to the said George Douglas. Witnesses to the Sasine, William Cunningham, writer, West Calder, James Wallace, son of John Wallace in Cleughead, and Alexander Scot, town officer of West Calder.
