Title |
Retour of Inquest made in the Tolbooth of the burgh of Edinburgh on 10th December 1516 before James Johnnestoun and Thomas Baird, sheriffs of Perth in that part finding that Alexander Bruys, grand uncle (frater avi) of James Bruys son and heir of the late David Bruys of Rait, is nearest agnate to the said James Bruys; that he is 25 years of age; that he is careful and able to manage his own affairs and fit to administer the affairs of another on finding sufficient caution thereanent; that he has found as cautioner David Bruys of Clakmannan, knight, who bound himself that the said Alexander should do to the said James until he is of lawful age all that a legal tutor is lawfully bound to do; that he is the immediate successor of the said James should he happen to die; and that John Arnot of that Ilk, grandfather of the said James on the mother's side is a suitable person to bring him up |
