Title |
Inventory of the goods and gear which pertained to the late James Baillie of Glentwing in the parish of Crawfoord---John and sheriffdom of Lanark, who died in April 1697, given up by Mr. John Bryce, minister at Crawford-John, for himself and on behalf of the Kirk-Session of the parish, executors dative qua creditors surrogat to the deceased conform to (1) bond (dated 12 November 1683, and registered in Sheriff Court Books of Lanark 3 February 1685) granted by him to Mr. John Nisbite, formerly minister at Crawford-John, and James Colthart, William Bertram of Nisbite, Charles Carmichaell, Mwngo Telfer, William Lightbodie and Ninian March, elders of said parish, for £292 Scots, (2) decreet of suspension obtained before the Lords of Session by the said executors dative on 26 February 1697, and (3) bond (dated 1 April 1697) by the deceased to the said Mr. John Bryce and kirk-session binding himself to grant a bond of corroboration. There is also put up with the Inventory (1) Scroll Valuation (undated) of the deceased's stock and crop; (2) Certificate (dated 7 November 1698) by John Telfer, officer of the commissary of Lanark, certifying that he had summoned Mr. William Ballie of Glentwing as heir of James Ballie of Glentwing, his brother, to compear before the commissary and his deputes on 14th and 18th November; witnesses, James Gallway in Crawford-John and William Stewart, there: (3) Copy of Letters of Advocation (signeted 22 November 1698) obtained at the instance of Mr. William Baillie, advocate.
