Title |
Instrument of Sasine under the hand of John Fergusson, clerk, of the diocese of Glasgow, notary public, following upon and narrating a precept of sasine in a bond of corroboration (dated at the manor place of Polquharne 31 May 1698) by Ronnald Chalmer of Polquharne, with consent of Jeane Ross, his spouse, whereby they bound themselves in corroboration of the bonds aftermentioned to infeft John Chalmer of Bonnietoune, Alexander Cunynghame of Knockguldron and John Cannon of Barlay in an annualrent of 420 merks Scots furth of the eight merkland of old extent of Polquharne with the manor-place, mill etc. thereof, lying in the parish of Vchiltrie, Kings Kyle and sheriffdom of Air: The bond proceeds on the narrative that the said Ronnald Chalmer, as principal, and the said John Chalmer, Alexander Cunynghame and John Cannon, his cautioners, had by their obligation (dated 5 June 1697) bound themselves to pay to William, Lord Bargany, the sum of 5000 merks Scots and by their bond (dated 3 July 1697) bound themselves to pay to Alexander Bruce, writer, Edinburgh, the sum of £1200 Scots amd that the said cautioners by (1) Assignation (dated 11 January 1698) from Lord Bargany and (2) Assignation (dated 20 November 1697) from the said Alexander Bruce had acquired right to the said sums, which amounted, principal and bygone annual rents, at Whitsunday last to 7000 merks. Sasine given on 31 May 1698 by Thomas Lies in Chipperlagane, bailie of the granter, to the said cautioners |

Witnesses to the bond of corroboration, John Cunynghame, son of William Cunynghame in Knockour, Robert Gibsone, son of Dionice Gibsone, smith in Stepends of Wattertoune, William Cannan, late corporal in Captain Stuart's company in Colonel Hill's regiment of foot at Innerlochie, and John Fergussone, writer, Cumnock. Witnesses to the Sasine, the said John Cunynghame, Robert Gibsone and William Cannan and Robert Aird in Whytesferdein.
