Title |
Claim by Agnes Rutherfoord, wife of Mr. William Cheisly of Cockburne, W.S., and lawful daughter of Mr. Samuell Rutherfoord, late professor of Divinity in the New College of St. Andrews, to be retoured to Chancery as nearest and lawful heir in special to Jean McMath, her mother, who died vest and seised in an annualrent of £140 Scots furth of the Mains of Covingtoun and lands of Hillhead, or any other part of the lands and barony of Covingtoun, in the sheriffdom of Lanerk, redeemable on payment of 3500 merks. |

Description |
The said annualrent was in the hands of the Crown since the death of the said Jean McMath in May 1675 and was constituted by (1) heritable bond (dated last day of February 1663) by Sir William Lindsay of Covingtoun, knight, in her favour; (2) sasine under the hand of James Crichtoune, notary public, dated 10 and registered in the General Register of Sasines 12 March 1663; and (3) charter of confirmation under the great seal of Charles II, dated 13 July 1663 Endorsed on the Claim:- Lanark 24 December 1689.
