Title |
Instrument of Resignation and Sasine under the hand of Alexander McDermeit, clerk, of the diocese of Glasgow, and depute clerk of the burgh of Air, notary public, narrating that John McIlwyane in Symonton, procurator for James Cochran, writer in Air, compeared in presence of Thomas Milliken, one of the bailies of the said burgh, and there in terms of the procuratory of resignation contained in a letter of disposition (of the date of these presents) granted by the said James Cochran, resigned the fore tenement of land (occupied by the notary, Ann McCulloch and the said James Cochran himself) lying at the back of the market cross of the burgh of Air on the west side of the High Street, between the tenement formerly the property of the late Sir William Cunynghame of Capringtoun and afterwards of the late James Cochran, late bailie of the said burgh, and now of the appriser of the same from him, on the south, the tenement formerly the property of the late John Reid now of David Smith, merchant, on the north, the tenement formerly of the late Gilbert McCalmont now of the said Thomas Milliken on the west, and the High Street on the east, into the hands of the said bailie in favour of the said James Cochran and Agnes Patersone, his spouse, and the longer liver of them in liferent and conjunct infeftment and the heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated between them who are in life at the decease of the longer liver of the two liferenters , in fee, whom failing to the heirs and assignees whomsoever of the longer liver, to whom the bailie gave sasine accordingly. Witnesses, Thomas Cathcart, late bailie of said burgh, George Montgomerie, chirurgeon there, David Patersone ....... there, William Wallace, servitor of Holland, merchant there, Leonard ....... officer there, Francis Mair, servitor of the said James Cochran, and Hugh Kirkpatrick, servitor of the said George Montgomerie.
