Title |
Precept under the testimony of the Great Seal of King James VII narrating that (1) the fore tenement of land occupied by John Alexander, collier, and John McTeir (?), (2) the back "thatch tenement" of land, occupied by Elizabeth Purveyance, relict of Hugh Hendersone, merchant, Ayr, (3) that "thatch roofe house", or part of the back tenement, and cellar pertaining to the same, recently possessed by Alexander Boyd and now lying waste and ruinous and (4) an acre of land possessed by John Ker lying in the Sands of Air, all of which formerly pertained to Hugh Hendersone, merchant, burgess of Air, or to Hugh or Thomas, his sons, or to one or other of them, had fallen into the king's hands and was at his presentation because they had died without lawful heirs of their bodies or without any persons within the tenth degree of consanguinity who could succeed to them or without having lawfully disponed of the same during their lives: The king, therefore, with consent of James, Earl of Perth, Lord High Chancellor, John, Earl of Athole, Keeper of the Privy Seal, William, Duke of Hamiltoun, George, Duke of Gordon, John, Earl of Tweeddale, Colin, Earl of Balcares, George, Viscount Tarbat, Clerk-Register, and William Viscount Strathallan, Lieutenant General of the Forces in Scotland, commissioners of the Treasury, presents and nominates William Cuninghame of Brounhill, provost of Air, as heritable proprietor of said lands and requires the provost and bailies of Air to receive him as such and give him heritable infeftment, reserving the liferent of the said Elizabeth Purveyance.
