Title |
Contract of Tack between John, bishop of Edinburgh, and John Smith, smith at Nethergate, whereby the former sets to the latter the miln of Newaby, with the fishing, multure house and dry multures belonging thereto (lately possessed by Mr. Thomas Broune and Marion Paterson), lying in the parish of Newabay and stewartry of Kirkcudbright, for nine years from Whitsunday 1684 at a yearly rent of 600 merks Scots, payable by equal portions at the terms of Candlemas and Lammas. The bishop binds himself to furnish the mill stones and the timber necessary for upholding the milne and multure house and to relieve Smith of all public burdens and impositions At Drumfreis and Edinburgh 7th and 10th April 1684 |
