Title |
Grant by John, Earl of Tueeddale, superior of the lands aftermentioned, disponing to Robert Murehead, chamberlain of Covingtown, the liferent escheat of John Baillie elder of St. Johnskirk and John Baillie yr. thereof, his son, so far as it concerns one-sixth part of the town, lands and mill of Thankertown in the sheriffdom of Lanark: which John Baillie elder and younger were on 3rd August 1680 denounced rebells and put to the horn in virtue of letters of horning raised against them at the instance of Mr. William Brown, brother german of Robert Brown, stationer, burgess of Edinburgh, for non-payment of £1000 Scots etc. due under (1) bond (dated 13 June 1666 and registered in the Books of Council and Session 8 August 1679) by the said John Baillie elder and (2) bond of corroboration (dated 18 February 1676 and registered as above) by the said John Baillie yr; with power to intromit with the maills etc. of said lands.
