Title |
Tack (by way of Contract) between Lady Elizabeth Kerr, Lady Borthwick, Liferentrix of the lands after mentioned, on the one part, and James Smith, tenant in Wester Midltoune, and Isobel Bell, his spouse, on the other part, whereby the first party sets to the second parties and the longest liver of them the "rowme", lands and manor of Tarcraik (possessed by Margaret Grindlaw) lying within the parish of Borthwick and sheriffdom of Edinburgh, with power to work lime stones within the said "rowme" for the "gooding" thereof, for three years from Whitsunday 1682, at a yearly rent of 1000 merks Scots and five dozen good and sufficient kain fowls (viz:- three dozen hens between Yule and Candlemas and two dozen capons at Pasche). The second parties are also bound to lead yearly the teinds of said lands to the barnyard of Borthwick to be drawn by her Ladyship's servants and to furnish horses for carriages and work etc. At Borthwicke 7 March 1682 |
