Title |
Assignation by Alexander Home of Linthill whereby he constitutes - his cessioner and assignee in and to one-half of the principal sum of 2000 merks Scots and other sums contained in back bond (dated 24 November 1671) granted by Harie McDowall of McKerstoune qualifying the assignation aftermentioned in the terms underwritten: which sum of 2000 merks was originally contained in bond (dated 8, 9 and 17 July and 10 August 1669) granted by William, Lord Mordingtoune, Patrick Boig of Burnehouse, Archibald Dowglas of Lumsdeine, and the said Alexander Home and Harie McDowall to Thomas Burnet, writer in Edinburgh, who by assignation (of the same date as the back bond) constituted Sir Patrick Murray, one of his Majesty's Receivers, his assignee thereto. It is declared that Murray's name "was only borrowed and intrusted" in the said assignation for behoof of Home and McDowall for the purpose of leading an apprising against Lord Mordingtoune.
