Title |
Charter under the Great Seal of King Charles II whereby he, as prince and Steward of Scotland, with consent of John, Earl of Rothes, Chancellor, John Duke of Lauderhall, President of the Privy Council and Secretary of State for Scotland, John, Earl of Atholl, Keeper of the Privy Seal, Archibald, Earl of Argyll, Alexander, Earl of Kincardin, and Charles Maitland of Haltoun, Treasurer Depute, commissioners for his Treasury, Comptrollery and New Augmentation, granted to William, Earl of Dundonald, his heirs and assignees, the 2½ merkland of Robertland, the 8 merkland of Watterland-Halkett, the 6 merkland of Fulshawes and the 4 merkland of Braidiland, with the manor-places, yards, coal-heughs, teinds etc. lying in the bailiary of Cunynghame and sheriffdom of Air: which lands formerly pertained to Sir Alexander Cunynghame of Robertland, knight, from whom they were apprised at the instance of the said Earl, in (1) a Court of Apprising held on 22nd February 1671 within the new tolbooth of Edinburgh before James Ainslie, messenger, for payment to his lordship of the sum of £5700 Scots of principal and £285 Scots for sheriff's fee, contained in decree and process of apprising approved by the Lords of Council and Session on 11 March 1671, and (2) a Court of Apprising held on 29th December 1674 in the said place before the said messenger for payment to his lordship of the sum of £2080 Scots of principal and £104 Scots for sheriff's fee contained in decree and process of apprising approved by the Lords of Council and Session in February 1674; and declaring that sasine taken at the manor-place of Robertland or upon any part of the ground of said lands should be sufficient for the whole subjects; To be held de nobis for payment of the rights and duties used and wont to be paid for said lands before the apprising: with right of redemption in favour of the said Sir Alexander Cunynghame and precept of sasine addressed to the bailies of Cunynghame and their deputes.
