Title |
Instrument of Sasine (faint and defective) under the hand of James Wallace, clerk, of the diocese of Glasgow, notary public, following upon and narrating a Precept of Clare Constat (dated at Air 9th January 1675) by John Chalmers of Gaitgirth, addressed to David Craufurd of Drumsey, for infefting John Sloas of Dalharco as eldest son and nearest and lawful heir of Thomas Sloas of Dalharco, his father, in the merkland of Dalharco (called Miltoun Merkland) with the grain mill, mill-lands and astricted multure which is the one seventeenth part of all the fruits and grain which shall happen to grow upon the 4 merkland of Dalharco and the 4 merk land of Craig, with mill-pond, the lade by which the water is brought to the mill, the mill-close, the cleaning of the water channel by the tenants of said lands as the custom is and the "utintoune multer" which is one half peck from each boll of all fruits growing upon the 4 merkland of Constable, the 2 merkland of Leffinhill, the 2 merkland of Drumgrainge, the 4 merkland of Keirhill and the 2 merkland of Dannaskane and Burneheid, all of old extent, lying in the barony of Martinham, Kyle Regis and sheriffdom of Air: which lands are held of the granter for payment of ten merks Scots of feu-farm at Matinmas yearly, the tenants appearing at the granter's courts at Martinham when required and the feu-farm being doubled in the first year of the entry of heirs. Sasine given by the said David Craufurd to the said John Sloas upon the ground of said lands on 10th February 1675 |

Witnesses to the Precept, Robert Dun of Leffinhill, James Wallace, writer in Air, and Thomas Kennedy, his servitor. Witnesses to the sasine, Alexander Crawfurd of Kers, Samuel Herrowne in Dalharco, Robert Dune and John Gibsowne in Constable.
Registered P.R.S. Ayr 23rd February 1675, Vol. 3, fol. 331 John Sloas is twice named Thomas at the beginning of the writ. |
