He has been with Lord Salisburrie, "and did moowe that your ratification sould be signed be his brother with ane other for me. He was ciwill and appeared to be werie desirous that wee sould be satisfied as to that, bot did aske a question, what if his brother sould scruple and did insinuate that some persones was too busie to doe ewill offices and to diwerte his brother; bot I told him it was necessarie for your securitie, and that though I conseawe that I am secured without it, yet that my lord is obleist to procure his brother's consent, and that I am concerned that he sould not thinke that he has anie schadow of pretense, and that money which is yet resting is onlie to be payed; that being done, the result was that he would send for his brother who is in Hatfeild and that he sould gett him to signe our papers. I longe impatientlie to be with yow, bot shall stay all the next weeke for that businnes. Mr. Cork hes desired me to asseure yow that all your papers shall be sent with my servant Alexander Oray, and that he shall be witnes to them. I finde that your ratification doeth beare absolute warrandice, wheras it sould be from his brother and his heires ther facts and deads; if they scruple at this I shall presume to mend it. I hawe informed myself of his brothers age, of which I hawe enclosed a note extracted out of the parishe register. This day the meeting of the Commissioners for the treatie is adiourned untill the end of Marche, so that I hope wee shall be with yow werie soon ............ London 13 November 1670 |
