Title |
Precept under the testimony of the Great Seal of Charles II narrating that John, Earl of Glencairne, had presented a supplication to the Lords of Council and Session setting forth that he was about to obtain a brieve from Chancery for serving himself as nearest and lawful heir to Alexander, Earl of Glencairne, his brother, who died last vest and seised as of fee at the faith and peace of the King in certain lands, baronies and annualrents lying within the sheriffdoms of Renfrew, Stirling and Air and the bailiary of Cunynghame, and that he could not conveniently be served before the different judges without trouble and great expense: The King, therefore, by deliverance of the said Lords, constitutes and ordains James Dunlop of Houshill and Mr. Hugh Montgomerie of Silverwood his sheriffs in that part of said sheriffdoms and his bailies of said bailiary, giving and granting to them full power to sit within the tolbooths of the burghs of Edinburgh and Renfrew for serving said brieve, to receive, proclaim and serve the same, to hold courts and to appoint officers etc. At Edinburgh 10 August 1670 a.r.22 |
