Title |
Instrument of Sasine (faint and defective) under the hand of John Monro, clerk, of the diocese of Ross, notary public, following upon and narrating the precept of sasine in a Bond and Obligation (dated 5 November, 1669) by Hugh Sinclaire of Blaickburne whereby, in consideration of the sum of four thousand merks Scots paid to him by Johne Carmichaell in Meikle Blaikbourne, he bound and obliged himself to infeft the said Johne Carmichaell, in liferent, and Johne, Helene and Agnes, his children, in fee, in an annual-rent of £160 Scots furth of his lands of Meikle Blaikbourne with the houses, yards, meadows etc., lying in the parish of Levengstoun and sheriffdom of Bathgate: Sasine given upon the ground of said lands, on 8th November 1669, by James Thornetone in Meikle Blaikbourne, bailie of the granter, to the said Johne Carmichaell, elder, and to Helene for herself and as attorney for her brother and sister (infants). It is provided in the Bond that if the said Johne Carmichaell, elder, died before repayment, the money should be divided as follows, viz: to Johne 2000 merks and to Helene and Agnes 1000 merks each |

Description |
Witnesses to the Bond, James Johnestoun, Writer to the Signet, and Allexander Murray, his servitor. Witnesses to the Sasine, John Hammiltoun, indweller in the town of Hammiltoun, Johne Quheilhousse in Kirkroads of Bathgate, James Liddell, smith in Blaikbourne, David Liddell, his son, and Mathow Paterson, merchant, indweller there. Writer of the Bond, Robert Hammiltone, servitor to the said James Johnestoun.
