Title |
Instrument of Sasine (defective) under the hand of Quintin Findlay, clerk, of the diocese of Glasgow, notary public, following upon and narrating the precept of sasine in a bond and obligation (dated at Edinburgh 7th March 1666) granted by Adame Hepburne of Humbie in favour of Jonet Hay, his spouse, for infefting her in liferent in (1) the lands of Pogbie, Gilchristoune, Eister and Wester Blaigbies and Stobsheill lying within the barony of Humbie, constabulary of Hadingtoune and sheriffdom of Edinburgh, and (2) the lands and barony of Trabroune with houses, mills, mill lands etc. lying within the bailiary of Lauderdaill and sheriffdom of Berwick, under reservation of (1) the liferent of Dame Katharine Pebles in the said lands of Trabroun, and (2) the right of the said Adame Hepburne to dispone the above lands without the consent of his spouse provided he infefts her in other lands equivalent in worth to the rent of the foresaid lands. Sasine given upon the ground of said lands on 7th September 1667 and by Mr. Thomas Wilsone, writer in Edinburgh, bailie in that part, to James Burrell, servitor to the said Adame Hepburne, attorney for the said Jonet Hay |

Witnesses to the bond and obligation, Mr. Henrie Murray of Dinearne, the said Mr. Thomas Wilsone and Robert Leitch, servand of the granter. Witnesses to the Sasine, Thomas Borthwick, son of Alexander Borthwick in Saltcoatis, Thomas Caldwell, weaver in Randerstoun, Robert Hallieday, servitor to Johne Hepburne in Newtoun, Andro Fox, servitor of the said Adame Hepburne, James Braidie in Beltoun, John Howdoun, servitor of William Pringell in Stobsheill, Alexander Gibsone and Charles Fiddes, servitors of Andro Wilkiesone in Eister Blaikbie, William Cuthbertsone in Trahrowne, Robert Cauldcleuch there, William Baillie in Pogbie and Hercules Fentoun, his servitor.
Registered General Register of Sasines 27th September 1667 - Vol. XVII, fol. 386. Much injured by damp. A great deal of the writing is indecipherable and the blanks have been filled up from the Register. |
