Certificate relative to No. GD86/654, granted at the desire of Margaret Halden, relict of James Sterling of Achyll and Ballwill, certifying that the said James Sterling died in the month of April 1658, that his widow was infeft in liferent in his lands and estate about 30 years before, "and that to our knowledg he will have no air nor executor to represent him he being mutch ingadgit for his awen proper debts and mutch involved in cautionrie for debt in his near freinds behalf, and thereby is legallie apprysed and adjudged to appertein to his lawfull creditours quhilk will not ballance the debts".
