Title |
Instrument of Sasine under the hand of Johne Alexander of the sheriffdom of Peebles, notary public, following upon and narrating the precept of sasine in a charter of apprising (dated 7th January 1659) under the great seal of Richard, Lord Protector, granting to Thomas Wilsone, skipper, burgess of Kirckcaldie, his heirs and assignees whomsoever, (1) the lands of Binnie and Meikill and Litle Blaikburnes, with the manor-places, houses etc. lying in the sheriffdom of Linlithgow; (2) the lands of Pitkenie, Easter and Wester Strathoires, Mitchelsone and the fourth part rig of the town and lands of Dyserte, with manor-places, houses, dovecots, mills, fishings, coal-heughs etc. and the great lodging or tenement of land lying in the burgh of Dysert, back and fore, under and above, all lying in the lordship and regality of Dumfermling and sheriffdom of Fyffe; and (3) the lands of Hesilsyde, the five merkland of Hennock comprehending the lands of Hennockheid, Hennock and Hennockfoot and the four merkland of old extent of Glentagart with the manor-places, houses, dovecots, mills, fishings, coalheughs etc. lying in the parish and regality of Douglas and sheriffdom of Lanerk: which lands Nos. 1 and 2 supra formerly pertained to Williame Hamiltoune of Strathoir and No. 3 to William Steuarte of Hesilsyde and were duly and lawfully apprised at the instance of the said Thomas Wilsone in a court of apprising held at Edinburgh on 10 September 1658 before Patrick Nisbet, messenger, from the said Williame Hamiltoun and William Steuarte for payment of the sum of 8805 merks 10s. and 8d. Scots of principal and 440 merks of sheriffs fee, conform to decreet of apprising led thereupon, seen and allowed by the Commissioners for administration of Justice on 11 September 1658. Sasine given upon the ground of the lands of Binnie and Hesilsyde upon 26th and 27th January 1659 by Peter Watsone, indweller in Edinburgh, sheriff in that part, to William Cowie, indweller in Binnie, and Johne Miller, indweller in Lanerk, attornies for the said Thomas Wilsone |
