Title |
Instrument of Resignation and Sasine under the hand of Mr. James Sandilands, town clerk of Aberdeen, notary public, narrating that Gilbert Lesly, merchant, burgess of Aberdein, in implement of his part of the contract of marriage (dated 13th May 1658) entered into between him, with consent of Mr. James Lesly, Doctor of Medicine, and John Donaldsoun, burgess of Aberdeen, his brother-in-law, on the one part, and Issobell Gilbert, lawful daughter of the deceased John Gib, burgess of Aberdeen, with consent of Alexander Hovesoun, late dean of guild, William Shand, thesaurer, and James Watsoune, merchant, burgesses of the said burgh, on the other part, resigned by one penny of "uttoll" into the hands of Robert Forbes, one of the bailies of said burgh, that tenement of foreland and inland, under and above, back and fore, with houses biggings, yards, closes and pertinents, lying on the south side of the Nether Kirkgait of the burgh of Aberdeen, between the land of the deceased James Brabner, thereafter of John Cairny, and the inland and yard of Hendrie Forbes on the east, the land of David Fergussoun, thereafter of John Galloway and Robert Forbes, on the west, Saint Cathrens Hill on the south, and the high common gait on the north, in favour of himself and spouse in conjunct fee and liferent, and the longest liver of them and the heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated betwixt them, whom failing, his heirs and assignees whomsoever, to whom the bailie gave sasine accordingly upon the ground of said lands on 10th January 1659.
