Title |
Precept of Sasine by Gavine, Earl of Carnwathe, lord Dalzell of Elleoch, for infefting James Grahame, merchant, burgess of Edinburgh, as nearest and lawful heir of William Graham in Carnwathe, his father, in a husbandland, with pertinents, lying in the town, village, territory and parish of Carnwathe and sheriffdom of Lanark, which was formerly held of the granter and his predecessors in blench-ferm, and of their chaplain of the Ile of Carnwathe, commonly called St. Maries Ile, in feu-farm, and now of the granter as coming in place of the said chaplain for payment yearly of 11 merks Scots of feu-farm and fourpence in augmentation of the rental of the chaplainry, with a double of the feu-farm duty in the first year of the entry of heirs.
