Title |
Instrument of Sasine under the hand of Mr. Daniel Blaiklaw of the sheriffdom of Edinburgh, notary public, following upon and narrating a precept of sasine in a charter (dated at Gilmertone 19th August 1656) by David Chrightone of Lugtone with consent of Dame Janet Edmondstone, Lady Lugtone, his mother, granting to David Ballanie, coalhewer in Shirefhall, and Issobell Tod, his spouse, and the longest liver of them in conjunct fee and to the bairns lawfully gotten or to be gotten betwixt them, whom failing, to the nearest and lawful heirs and assignees whomsoever of the said David, (1) the tenement, house and yard, with the well belonging thereto, at the east end of the town of Gilmertone (sometime occupied by the deceased James Richman, smith, and now by Barbara Dalyie and George Dog) between the common green on the south, the gutter that comes from Johne Kirkpatrick's close as it comes foranent the gavel of the house belonging to his tenement possessed by Stevine Dog, on the west, the high street that leads from Edinburgh to Newbottle on the east, and the highway that leads from the said street to the house presently possessed by Patrick Symsone and Hughe Smith on the north, and (2) a piece of ground upon the east side of the said high street, between the gavell of the smiddy, presently possessed by Alexander Richardsone, smith, and the door cheek of the house possessed by Thomas Mathie on the south and north, the yard belonging to them on the east, and the said high street on the west, all lying in the parish of Libertone and sheriffdom of Edinburgh. Sasine given upon the ground of said subjects on 22nd August 1656 by George Dalgleis in Guttries, bailie in that part, to the said David Ballanie for himself and as attorney for his said spouse |

Witnesses to the charter, Patrick Chrightone, indweller in the Stanehous, Henrie Oliphant, servitor of the granter, and the notary. Witnesses to the sasine, James Dalgleis, Thomas Warrock, Rolland Richardsone and George Dog, all indwellers in Gilmertone.
