Title |
Letter of Reversion by William Sterling of Harbertshyre, granting that the lands of Carbrok (sometime occupied by the late Donald Ure) lying in the sheriffdom of Stirling and the lands of Drunzie lying in the stewartry of Monteath and sheriffdom of Perth, disponed to him by James Sterling of Balwill, his father, should be redeemable by payment of the sum of £7453:16: 8 in the West Kirk of Stirling, at the place where the provost and bailies of the burgh sit at sermon "evin", on 40 days warning, consignation if necessary to be in the hands of the treasurer or one of the bailies of the burgh; which sum of £7453:16: 8 was partly made up of sums paid by the granter as cautioner for his father, partly of sums undertaken to be paid by him to his father's creditors, and partly of sums assigned to his father, conform to the following list viz: - Henrie Chrystie of Cragetoun, 600 merks of principal, £60 of bygone annualrent and £60 of penalty due under bond dated 13 May 1651; Mongo Halden, brother of the deceased Laird of Glenegles, 500 merks of principal, £60 of annualrent and £50 of penalty conform to bond dated 11 June 1653; William Murray, lawful son of the deceased Alexander Murray, chamberlain of Skoone, and Geillis Murray, his mother, 2000 merks of principal and £200 of penalty, conform to bond dated 14 March 1649; William Buchanan, brother of Johne Buchanan of Ros, 300 merks Scots, £60 of bygone annualrent and £30 of penalty, conform to bond dated 18 March 1647; George Henrie in Dunblane, 2200 merks of principal and bygone annualrent and 500 merks of penalty; 2800 merks due by Sir Hector Mackleane of Dowart to the late William Stirling of Coldoch, who assigned it to the John Stirling of Harbertshyre, uncle of the granter and by him to his father; and 1000 merks due by John Mackleane of [ ] and the said Sir Hector, his cautioner, and 500 merks due by Johne Campbell of Oronsay, to the said William Stirling of Coldoch and assigned and transferred as above.
