Title |
Extract from the Register of the Privy Council (Acta) narrating that at Edinburgh on 6 May 1647 Archibald, Marquis of Argyll, produced in presence of the Council a patent under the great seal (dated at Newcastle 3 August 1646) creating Mr. Patrick Maule of Panmure, one of his Majesties Bedchamber for the past 21 years, and the heirs male of his body, Earls of Panmure, Lords of Brechin and Navar and Lords of Parliament; that the Council thereupon ordained Mr. Patrick and his heirs male to be called Earls of Panmure etc. and to have place, vote and precedency in all parliaments etc. according to the date of the patent; and that John, Earl of Loudoun, Lord High Chancellor, delivered the patent to the Marquis of Argyll in name of the said Earl of Panmure |
