Title |
Certified Copy Retour of Inquest made in a court of the bailiary of Cunynghame held in the tolbooth of the burgh of Irwing on 6 May 1645 by Thomas Neving of Monkridding and Mr. John Gervane of Dalgain (?), depute bailies of the said bailiary, finding that Ann Cunynghame was one of the three lawful and nearest heirs of John Cunynghame of Cambuskeith, her brother, in the £10 land of old extent of Cambuskeith, lying on the north side of the Water of Irwing as the same now runs, with tower, manor-place, mill etc. within the bailiary of Cunynghame and sheriffdom of Air: which lands are held of the prince and steward of Scotland in feu-farm for payment of £10 Scots and 13/4 in augmentation of rental (which sums are to be doubled in the first year of the entry of heirs of the said John) and are in the hands of the liferentrix Margaret Knox, mother of the said John Cunynghame, since his decease in January 1637 |

Extracted from the Act Book of the said bailiary of Robert Broun, notary public, clerk of court, and certified to be a true copy made from the Principal Retour preserved in Chancery by [? John Achesone] depute of Sir John Scott of Scottistarvett, knight, Director of Chancery.
