Title |
Charter of Sale by William Steinsoun of Barbeth and George Steinsoun of Dalkairnie, his second son, whereby in implement of letters of disposition (dated 4 July 1642) granted by them to Mr. James Nasmythe, Minister of the Word of God at Dalmellingtoun, and Sophia Hwme, his spouse, they granted to them and the longer liver of them in conjunct infeftment and to the heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated between them, whom failing, to the nearest heirs and assignees of the said James whomsoever the following subjects lying in the parish of Dalmellingtoun and sheriffdom of Air viz:- (1) the small house or merchant booth in the clachan of Dalmellingtoun, built upon the north kirkyard dyke, formerly occupied by the said William Steinsoun and afterwards by Duncan Craufurd; (2) that particate of land lying opposite the foresaid small house on the west side thereof (of which one part is made into a garden and the other part is waste, extending in length to 36 feet and in breadth to 22 feet) for building houses thereon, one end of which is to be built on the said kirkyard dyke and the other to ascend to the common King's highway on the north; and (3) that particate or portion of land extending to 10 falls (computing 6 ells in length and breadth to each fall) lying on the south side of the town of Dalmellingtoun, beginning at the upper part of the yard of the late Gilbert Mure and from thence extending towards the public highway on the east, upon which lands the house occupied by John McQuhonnell is built with the yard pertaining to the same; with liberty and privilege of brewing and selling and of buying and selling merchandise within said town used and wont: To be held de me for payment of 20 shillings Scots to the said George Steinsoun in name of feu-farm, with a double of the same in the first year of the entry of heirs: With precept of sasine.
