Title |
Instrument of Sasine (in the vernacular) under the hand of James Thomsone, clerk, of the diocese of Glasgow, notary public, following upon and narrating the precept of sasine in a contract (dated at Woodhead 25th June 1640) entered into between Johne Maxwell of Drumcoltrane, with consent of Margaret Sterling, his spouse, on the one part, and James Maxwell, second lawful brother of the said Johne Maxwell, on the other part, for infefting the latter in an annual-rent of 160 merks Scots furth of the Overhalf of the forty shilling land of Drumcoltrane, lying in the parish of Kirkgunzeane and stewartry of Kirkcudbright under reversion containing the sum of 2000 merks Scots. Sasine given upon the ground of the said lands of Over Drumcoltrane on 26 June 1641 by James Maxwell "callit of the Kill", natural brother of Robert Maxwell of Portrak, bailie in that part of the said Johne Maxwell, to the said James Maxwell, personally present and accepting |
