Title |
Bond of Relief by Williame Stirling of Coldoch narrating that James Stirling of Balwill, his eldest son, by his bond (dated 1 January 1641) bound and obliged himself to free and relieve Johne Stirling of Harbertshyre and Archibald Stirling fiar of Coldoch, his brothers, who had become cautioner for their said father at the hands of the following creditors viz:- James Robisone yr. one of the bailies of the burgh of Stirling for himself and on behalf of said burgh for 4000 merks Scots, Johne Stevinstoune, merchant, burgess of Stirling, for £2000 merks Scots, and Williame Castellaw, apothecar, burgess of Edinburgh for 500 merks Scots: He therefor for his relief bound and obliged himself to infeft the said James Stirling, his heirs and assignees, in (1) the lands of Braecardell, extending to a nine merkland, lying within the parish of Skerchanyie and sheriffdom of Tarbert, and (2) the feu-ferm duties of the lands of Lagganhalden, extending to a nine merkland, lying in the sheriffdom of Perthe: With procuratory of resignation for resigning said lands into the hands of Archibald, Earl of Argyle, superior of said lands.
