Title |
Certified Copy Retour of Inquest (fragment) made in a court of the bailiary of Cunynghame held in the tolbooth of the burgh of Irwing on 24 August 1637 by Thomas Nevein of Monkridding, bailie depute of the said bailiary, finding that Margaret Cunynghame was eldest sister-german and one of the three nearest and lawful heirs of John Cunynghame of Calmbuskeyth in the £10 land of old extent of Cambuskeythe, lying on the north side of the Water of Irwing as the same now runs, with tower, manor-place, mill etc., within the bailiary of Cunynghame and sheriffdom of Air: which lands are held of the prince and steward of Scotland in feu-farm for payment of £10 Scots and 13/4 in augmentation of rental (which sums are to be doubled in the first year of the entry of heirs of the said John) and are in the hands of the liferentrix Margaret Knox, mother of the said John Cunynghame, since his decease in January 1637 |
