Title |
Charter (defective) by Mary Stirling, daughter and heir of the late Alexander Stirling of Powhous, with consent of James Stirling at the Mill of Keir, her lawful tutor, and Agnes Cokburne, relict of the said Alexander, her mother, for their interest, whereby in implement of a contract (of the date of these presents) entered into between them and James Stirling, fiar of Auchyle, they granted to him his heirs and assignees whomsoever, the lands of Carbrok (occupied by Donald Ure) lying in the sheriffdom of Sterling; which lands formerly pertained to Sir James Forrester of Garden, knight, and Dame Margaret Flemyng, his spouse, and were wadset by them with the mill and mill-lands of Cambusbarroun, to the late Andrew Dicksoune, formerly at the Kirk of Muir in Dundaff, in liferent, and to Alizon and Marjory, his daughters, in fee, under reversion of the sum of 2300 merks Scots, by whom they were disponed to the late Sir John Murray of Touchadame, knight, under reversion of the said sum, who disponed them (excepting the said mill and mill-lands) to the said Alexander Stirling under reversion of the sum of £1000 Scots for which the said James Stirling becomes now liable: With precept of sasine addressed to John Squyer, merchant, burgess of Stirling. Witnesses, Sir George Stirling of Keir, knight, Sir William Murray of Touchadame, knight, Sir John Stirling of Garden, knight, William Drummond of Riccartoun, Alexander Cunynghame, fiar of Boquhan, Alexander Murray in Spittell and Mr. David Forester of Logye. Writer of the charter, Mr. John Williamsone, son of John Williamsone, clerk of the sheriffdom and burgh of Stirling.
