Title |
Indenture between Sir David Broice of Clakmennen, knight, on the one part, and Johne Scot, pensioner of the lands of Freland of Rayt, on the other part, whereby the latter binds himself to infeft the former in two oxgangs of his land called the Freland of Rayt, lying in the barony of Rayt and sheriffdom of Perth, and to deliver to him the old charter of confirmation with the evidents of the same and warrant him at the hands of all persons as to any alienations or "thrilling" formerly made. Sir David, if required by Scot to do so, was to "appleis" the Laird of Inchmertin of the sum of £40, otherwise that sum or the part "defalkit" by Inchmertin was to be paid to Scot, to whom he was to grant a reversion for said sum and also a letter of tack of said two oxgangs for 5 years at a yearly rent of 5 merks and a letter of "fealle" for the same period, in terms of which he was to be paid 4 merks of fee yearly for his services. Both parties gave their bodily faiths, the holy evangels touched, to observe the above conditions. At Clakmennen 28 August 1506 |
