Title |
Charter by Andrew, Lord Jedburghe, whereby, in implement of a contract of marriage (dated at Edinburgh, Prestoungrange and Fairniehirst 8, 10 and 15 March 1614 and registered in the Books of Council and Session 20th January 1629) entered into between his deceased son Andrew, Master of Jedburgh, then designed Sir Andrew Ker, younger of Oxnem, with consent of his said father, then designed Sir Andrew Ker of Fairniehirst, knight, on the one part, and Dame Margaret Ker, Lady Zester, with consent of Dame Margaret Maxuell, Countess of Louthiane, her mother, on the other part, in which he and his son became bound to infeft the said Dame Margaret Ker in liferent in certain lands, he grants to her in liferent his lands and lordship of Oxnem, with tower, mansionhouse etc., his half of the lands and barony of Maxuell (comprehending the lands called St. Thomas Chaipell, his one-half of the lands of Maxuelhauch with the whole meadow thereof, one-half of the mill of Maxuelhauch and one half of the multure of the lordship of Maxuelfeild, the lands of Pomkilhill and Wastwowden which are part of the half of the said lands and barony), five husbandlands in the town and territory of Langtoun and the lands of Rikkiltoun and Weymislandis in the sheriffdom of Roxburgh: To be held de me for payment of one penny Scots of blench farm: with clause of warandice and precept of sasine.
