Title |
Instrument of Resignation under the hand of John Ker, clerk, of the diocese of St. Andrews, notary public, narrating that on 18 March 1626 James Dowglas, macer, procurator for Alexander, Earl of Linlithgow (duly constituted by the Procuratory of Resignation GD86/480) compeared in presence of Sir George Hay of Kinfawnis, knight, Chancellor, and of the other lords of the Privy Council of Scotland sitting in council in the Laigh Council House of the burgh of Edinburgh, and resigned the lands and barony of Levingstoun described in the said Procuratory into their hands in favor of Sir James Levingstoun of Brighouse, knight, and his heirs and assignees; and that thereupon the Chancellor redelivered the said lands to Humphrey Dowie, clerk, procurator for the said Sir James Levingstoun |
