Precept of Sasine by John Wemys of Craigtoune, commissioner of Lodovick, Duke of Lennox, superior of the lands aftermentioned, addressed to Thomas Fentoune, elder, messenger, narrating that he had granted to Archibald Russell, citizen of St. Andrews, and to his heirs and assignees provided and admitted in a general charter of feu-farm granted to the provost and citizens of St. Andrews, and others, tenants of certain acres of land, that acre and rood of arable land lying in the lordship of the said lord, regality thereof and sheriffdom of Fyff, in the territory commonly called 'ane sched callit lie Garrowflatt', between the acres of the heirs of the late Thomas Peatie on the east, of Mr. George Mairtine, provost of the College of St. Salvator on the west, and of Robert Murray on the south, and the burn called Balgoif-burn on the north: which subjects formerly pertained to John Wood, son of the late Thomas Wood, who by Mr. David Lyndesay, his procurator, resigned them into the hands of the said commissioner in favour of the said Archibald Russell, to whom the bailie was commanded to give sasine accordingly in terms of the said general charter of feu-farm. Witnesses, James Balfour and John Phennesoune, citizens of St. Andrews, Andrew Lawe and John Persoune servitors of the said John Wemys.
Signed by the granter. The Charter is written by Mr. David Lyndesay, son of Mr. Hugh Lyndesay clerk of said lordship. The seal of the chapter of St. Andrews is appended. See Laing I, 1105. `Brit. Mus. Catalogue,' No. 14967. |
