Letters under the testimony of the great seal of James IV ratifying and confirming a Decree of Reduction (dated at Edinburgh 1 June 1493) by William, bishop of Aberdene, Archbald, Earl of Ergile, Lord Campbell and Lorn, Johnne, Lord Glamys, Laurence, Lord Oliphaunt, William, Lord of St. Johns, Robert, abbot of Kelso, James, abbot of Scone, Mr. Alexander Inglis, archdean of St. Androis, Mr. Richard Murehede, dean of Glasgow and John Ogilvy of Fingask, lords of Council, in the action pursued by Elizabeth Ogstoun, daughter and heir of the late Walter Ogstoun of that Ilk, against Mr. Androw Caidzow, pretended sheriff depute of Aberdene, and also against Elizabeth Hay and James Douglas, her spouse, finding that the retour purchased by the said Elizabeth Hay, following on the decease of William Hay of Vry, relating to the lands of Raustoun and Cragy, in the sheriffdom of Aberdene of the sasine following thereon, was of no force or effect because the said Mr. Androw Caidzow at the time of the serving of the brieve of inquest pretended he was depute of the sheriff of Aberdene whereas he was only depute of Sir Alexander Gordoun of Megmer, knight, who was depute of the Master of Crawfurde, and also because a depute could not make a depute under him |
