Title |
Instrument of Sasine under the hand of James Currie, notary public, following upon and narrating a precept of sasine under the testimony of the great seal of King James VI (dated at Edinburgh 2 July 1618) narrating that he, with consent of John, Earl of Mar, treasurer of Scotland, granted to Sir Gedion Murray of Elibank, knight, and Dame Margaret Pentland, his spouse, and the longer liver of them in conjunct infeftment and the heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated between them, whom failing, to the nearest heirs and assignees of Sir Gedion whomsoever, (1) the town and lands of Langschaw, with the mill, mill-lands, multures, manorplaces, commonties etc. (formerly held by Sir Gedion, his precedecessors and authors of the commendators of Melros) lying in the lordship of Melros and sheriffdom of Roxburghe, which John Viscount of Hadingtoune, Lord Ramsay of Melros and Barnis, and Sir Gedion resigned into his hands in favor of Sir Gedion and his spouse; and (2) the feu-farm duties of the said lands, mill, and mill-lands of Langschaw contained in the ancient infeftments, the teind sheaves and other teinds and emoluments, as well parsonage as vicarage, of the town, lands and "maynis" of Langschaw and mill-lands thereof and the town and lands of Blanislies in the parish of Melros and sheriffdom of Roxburghe, the arriages, carriages, "kainfoullis" and customs of Blanislies, and the feu-ferm duties of the lands of Eistraik of Ousbyre in the foresaid sheriffdom, which Sir Patrick Murray of Langschaw, knight, eldest son of Sir Gedion, resigned in like manner: He ordained that sasine taken at the monor-place of Langschaw should stand for the whole subjects, and commanded his sheriff and bailies of Roxburghe and Alexander Inglis in Stow, his sheriffs in that part, to give sasine to Sir Gedion and his spouse accordingly.
