Title |
Charter of Sale by Archibald Edmestoun of Ballentone and Marjorie Edmestoun, his spouse, with consent of Alexander Bruce and Marjorie Edmestoun, his spouse, for their interest, whereby in implement of their part of a contract (of even date herewith) entered into between them, on the one part, and William Law in Ballentone, and Jonet Patersone, his spouse, on the other part, and for payment of a large sum of money specified therein, they granted to the said William Law and spouse, and the longer liver of them in conjunct infeftment, and to the heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated between them, whom failing, to the lawful and nearest heirs of the said William whomsoever, (1) the houses, yards and acre of land of their lands of Ballentone (occupied by the grantees), and (2) eleven rigs of land (also occupied by them) extending to half an acre lying contiguous to the above acre of land within the stewartry of Mentethe and sheriffdom of Perth; with privilege of the "mossis and mures" of Ballentone and casting "faill deviot and myremuke" in the usual way, according to the rate and quantity of said lands, together with the pasturage of 3 "ky" and their followers and one horse on said lands of Ballentone to be "hirdet and pasturet" with the cows of the granters and their successors: To be held de nobis, for payment of ld Scots in name of blench-ferm: With precept of sasine addressed to James Dog of Ballengrew.
