Title |
Instrument of Resignation and Sasine (defective) under the hand of John Masoun, clerk of the burgh of Air, notary public, narrating that Duncan Crawfurd of Drumsoy, who was heritably infeft in the subjects aftermentioned, in consideration of a certain sum of money paid to him by William Stewart, brother-german of Josias Stewart of Bonytoun, and Mareot McAlexander, his spouse, resigned his tenement of land, back and fore, under and above, with close, yard and pertinents, lying in the burgh of Air, opposite (versus) the Wool Market on the east side of the High Street, between the tenement formerly the property of Gilbert Broun now of George Kessan and the heir of the late John Scharpe on the south, and the tenement formerly the property of Quintin Prestoun and Donald Rodman now of George Levingstoun and James Hunter on the north, into the hands of James Johnstoun, one of the bailies of said burgh, in favour of the said William Stewart and spouse and the longer liver of them in conjunct infeftment, and the heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated between them, whom failing, of the heirs and assignees of the said William whomsoever; to whom the bailie gave sasine accordingly in terms of said resignation and of the letter of disposition granted to them by the said Duncan Crawfurd: To be held of the king in free burgage for payment of the burgh ferms used and wont. Witnesses, the said Josias Stewart of Bonytoun, Donald Smyth, bailie of said burgh, John Cwninghame of Milnquarter, merchant, and Hugh Dowok, carpenter, co-burgesses of Air, Golya Cochren and James Watsoun, serjeands of said burgh, William McKerrell of Hilhous, clerk of court of the sheriffdom of Air, and Alexander Neisbit, his servitor.
