Title |
Instrument narrating that Robert Connyngame, son and apparent heir of Alexander Connyngame of Polmais, knight, delivered to the notary to be read published and reduced to a public form of Instrument, a Schedule of which the tenor follows:- "Schir notar and witnes here present, I Robert of Connyngame, soune and aperande air to Alexander of Connyngame of Polmais, knycht, and fear of the landis and barony of Polmais Connyngame, schawis to zow that I the saide Robert, being withtin zouthede and nocht of lauchful nor perfite age, compellit and distrenzit be my saide fader quhom I durst nocht displese, has maide certane takkis of divers landis and tane formale thairapoun; and in likwis maid divers obligatiounis, ekit soumes in reuersionis, and als maid alienaciounis of landis and done diuers other thingis be causatioune and throu aw and dred of my said fadir, quhilkis mai be grete preiudice hendring and scaitht to me in myne heretage: in the first, a tak maid to Robert the Bruce, elder, of the landis of Powfowllis witht the pertinentis for the termes of xix zeris and the hail male thairof befforhand pait; Item, the landis of the Hill of Arth wedset be my saide fadir to the saide Robert Bruce vndir reuersioune, the quhilk reuersioune is ekit be ane obligacioun witht the soume of fourti merkis and nyne zeris takkis ratifiit be me to the saide Robert of the saide landis eftir the lowsing and outquitting of the samyne; Item, the landis of Arthbeg set in assedacioune and tak to Jhonne Elphinstoune of Pendreich for the termes of nyntene zeris for the mail payand; Item, a tak for the termes of sevin zeris of the landis of Auchlasky maide to the lord Erskin and the male thairof beforhand pait; Item, a tak of the landis of Levilandis maid to Patrik Redehuch for the termes of vi zeris ande the malis thairof beforhand pait; Item, ane alienatioune maid to Thomas Bissat of the Quarall off sex merkis of landis of Polknaif and half ane oxgang of land of the Hallis of Arth, vndir a reuersioune maid thairaipoun quhill twa hundreth and twenty markis be pait on a day; and thir landis forsaid lyis in the barouny of Polmais Connyngame withtin the sherefdome of Striuelyng. The quhilkis al and sindry the forsaid takkis making, taking of formale thairapoun, making of obligaciounis and alienaciounis, eking of sowmes in reuersionis, and in special the takkis obligacionis and alienacionis forsaid contenit in this present write, witht al other and sindry thingis done be me in my nonage as said is quhilkis maibe preiudice hendring hurt or scaitht to me or myne airis in myne and thar fee and heretage, I the said Robert of Connyngame, now at my lauchtful perfite age, for the causis forsaid reuokis cassis and adnullis the sammyne and done be me throw causacioune aw and drede of my saide fadir, the quhilk is weill kende; and protestis sollempnly that the making of the said takis taking of foremale, making of obligaciounis or alienaciounis, eking of soumes in reuersionis, nor nane vther thingis done be me in my none age as said is, turne me nor myne airis to na preiudice in tyme to cum; and herapoun schir notar I ask zow ane instrument and this bill and writing to be comprehendit thairintill". Thereafter the said Robert, in terms of the said Schedule, revoked cassed and annulled everything contained therein, and protested that nothing he had done should prejudice himself or his heirs in time coming.
