Title |
Letters of Disposition by Archibald Edmestoun of Ballintone, with consent of Mariorie Edmestoun, his spouse, whereby in consideration of a certain sum of money paid to him by Alexander Bruce, lawful son of umquhile Captain James Bruce in Airth, he bound and obliged himself to infeft the said Alexander Bruce in (1) his six merkland of Cessintullie otherwise called Ballinton lying in the stewartry of Menteith and sheriffdom of Perth, and (2) his forty shilling land in Wester Spitteltoun called the forty shilling land of Wester Spitteltoun of Cessintullie lying in the said stewartry and sheriffdom. He also constituted him his cessioner and assignee in and to the letters of reversion for redemption of (a) an annualrent of £80 Scots disponed to David Muschet of Calzechat and umquhile Mareoun Dog, his spouse, in liferent and to Agnes and Geils, their daughters, in fee furth of the lands No. 2 supra, redeemable on payment of 1200 merks Scots; (b) another annualrent of £80 Scots disponed to Mr. Malcolme Henrysone, minister at Kilmadock, and Henrysone, his son, furth of the lands Nos. 1 and 2 supra, redeemable on payment of 1200 merks Scots, (c) an annualrent of 100 merks disponed to Mungo Edmestone in Wester Spitteltoun and Helen Ramsay, his spouse, and the longer liver of them furth of the lands No. 2 supra, redeemable on payment of 1000 merks Scots, and (d) the houses yards and acres ( -- acre) of land of the lands of Ballintone, half an acre of land of the lands of Ballintone adjacent to the said acre of land, and 7 rigs of land of the lands of Wester Spitteltoun (all occupied by William Law) with privilege and liberty of the mure and mosses of Ballinton and Wester Spitteltoun and casting of "faill devait and myremuke" therein conform to use and wont according to the rate and quantitie of said lands, together with the "gressing" and pasturage of 3 "ky" with their followers and a horse on the said lands of Ballintone, disponed to the said William Law and Jonet Patersone, his spouse, from whom they were redeemable on payment of £200 Scots. Witnesses, Thomas Newtoun, sculemaister in Ballinton, Alexander Barclay, writer, Stirling, [notary public], Alexander Galbraith, lawful son of [Robert] Galbraithe of Culcreuch, and James Edmestone, natural son of Mungo Edmestoun in Spitteltoun. Signed by the granter and witnesses. The deed is written by Archibald Muschett, servitor of the said Alexander Barclay. |
