Title |
Instrument of Resignation and Sasine under the hand of John Masoun, common clerk of the burgh of Ayr, notary public, narrating that William Rysyde, burgess of Air, in implement of his part of a contract of marriage (dated 20 November 1613) entered into between him, on the one part, and John Knycht, merchant, burgess of said burgh, and Jonet Knycht, his lawful sister, on the other part, resigned (1) his tenement of land, back and fore, under and above, with yard and pertinents, formerly the property of James Campbell, lying on the north side of the High Street of Ayr, between the tenement of the late Peter Cuningham on the east, and the tenement formerly the property of the late Thomas Padene on the west; (2) his back tenement, under and above, formerly the property of the said Thomas Padene, lying on the north side of the High Street, between the tenement formerly the property of Donnald Campbell now of Robert Campbell, merchant, on the west, and the preceding tenement on the east; (3) his tenement of land, back and fore, with yard and pertinents (occupied by John Speir, shoemaker, and Adam Johnestoun, pedlar (veator)) lying on the east side of the High Street, between the tenement of the late John Blair, pedlar, now of Elizabeth Roger, on the north, and the tenement of the late William Riddell on the south; (4) his garden called the Orcheart with pertinents formerly pertaining to James Bannatyne, lying on the west side of the Kow Vennell of said burgh, between the lands formerly the property of William Ros on the south and the lands formerly the property of Alexander Bellisbank on the north; (5) his piece of land of the lands of Twa-stane-croce called the Stokrodding formerly pertaining to Adam Johnestoun, extending to 3 acres of land or thereabouts, lying in the territory of said burgh; (6) his 3 acres of land next the lands of Twa-stane-croce being a pendicle of the lands of Over Duphoill, lying in said territory; (7) his acre of land formerly pertaining to James Craufurd and Mariot McMillen, his spouse, lying in that portion of the lands of the Sands of the burgh called the Mure and Commoun, between the lands of Adam Stewart on the north and the lands of the late James Eglishame on the south; (8) his acre of land with pertinents formerly the property of Alexander Cuninghame lying in that portion of the Sands called the Myd Sandis, between the lands formerly the property of John Stewart on the south and the lands formerly the property of John Maknedar and Robert Rankene on the north; (9) his 2 acres of land with pertinents lying contiguous in that portion of the Sandis called the Heycht Sandis, extending from the barns and kilns formerly the property of John McQuattie to the turfery of Spittelbog, between the lands of William Roger on the north and the foresaid turfery on the south; (10) his 2 acres of land with pertinents lying in that portion of the lands of the Sands near the sea called the Laycht Sandis, one acre lying between the lands of the late William Garvan on the south and the lands formerly the property of William Gottray now of Thomas Mirrie on the north, and the other between the lands of the said William Roger on the south and the lands of the late Robert Rankene on the north; and (11) his acre of land with pertinents lying in the said Laycht Sandis between the lands of the late Peter Cuningham on the south and the lands formerly the property of Adam Johnestoun, bailie, on the north, into the hands of James Johnestoun, one of the bailies of Ayr, in favour of himself (the resigner) and the said Jonet Knycht, his future spouse, in conjunct infeftment; and that thereupon the said bailie gave sasine of said subjects to the said William Rysyde (personally present) and Jonet Knycht (compearing by her attorney the foresaid John Knycht) and to the longer liver of them in conjunct infeftment and to the heirs to be lawfully procreated between them, whom failing, to the heirs and assignees of the said William whomsoever: To be held in the manner of the ancient infeftments of said lands.
