Title |
Letter of Tack by Johne Gib, one of the grooms of His Majesty's Bedchamber whereby, on the narrative that he had a Gift from the King (dated at the Mannour of Oitlandis 3 July 1612) granting him full power, with consent of the parties aftermentioned, to set tacks of the teinds of the kirks of the Chapel Royal of Stirveling, and in consideration of a sum of money paid to him in name of grassum, he, with consent of Alexander Earl of Dunfermeling, High Chancellor of Scotland, Sir Thomas Hammiltoune of Byiris, knight, Lord Secretary, and Sir William Oliphant of Newtoune, Lord Advocate, set in tack to Neill Montgomerie, son of Neill Montgomerie of Langshawe, the teind sheaves and other teinds (both parsonage and vicarage) of the parish church of Allowaye (which is one of the kirks of the said Chapel Royal) for 19 years from Lammas 1613 at a yearly rent of £54 Scots and 6/8 in augmentation of the rental of the kirk. Witnesses, Mr. John Drummond of Woodcokdell, Mr. James Raithe, Mr. John Haye and William Inglis, servitors to the Lord Chancellor, Mr. James Laute, advocate, and Mr. Thomas Davidsone, his servitor.
The seal of the granter and the common seal of the Chapel Royal are attached. For description of the granter's seal see `Macdonald's Scottish Armorial Seals', No. 1042. The common seal of the Chapel Royal is defaced. Signed by the granter, consenters and five witnesses. |
