Title |
Instrument of Sasine under the hand of Robert Ker, clerk, of the diocese of Saint Andrews, notary public, following upon and narrating a precept under the testimony of the Great Seal of James VI (dated at Edinburgh 15th March 1613) addressed to his sheriff and bailies of Renfrow, and to Robert Hammiltoun of Bathgaitt, his sheriff of Renfrow in that part, whereby for himself and as administrator for his son, Prince Charles, Stewart of Scotland, with consent of Sir Gideon Mwrray of Elibank, knight, depute treasurer, comptroller and collector, and of the Lords of the Privy Council, he granted (1) to George Hammiltoun of Mikill Blaikburne, his heirs and assignees whomsoever, the lands of Strathoir (acquired by Dame Issobel Leslie, Mistress of Sinclare, from Sir Andrew Balfour of Strathoir, knight) lying in the sheriffdom of Fyiff; and (2) to the said George Hammiltoun and Katherine Sinclare, his spouse, and the longer liver of them, in conjunct infeftment, and to the heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated between them, whom failing, to the lawful and nearest heirs of the said George and his assignees whomsoever, (a) one-sixth part of the lands of Wester Strathoir, Michelstoun, and the port called Westhewin, with the mill of Hettpett, mill-lands, multures, coals, coalpits etc. (formerly pertaining to George Airth of Dura and apprised from him at the instance of Robert Hay, burgess of Kirkaldie, and adjudged to the said Dame Issobell) lying at the west end of the town of Dysart within the sheriffdom of Fyiff and (b) the lands of Mikill Blaikburne with the mill, mill lands etc., the lands of Poddokschaw with houses, coal, coalpits, moors etc. and the lands of Torbaines alias Treis, lying within the bounds of the barony of Bathgatt and sheriffdom of Renfrow by annexation but naturally within the sheriffdom of Linlythqw, declaring that the lands Nos. 1 and 2 (a) were resigned by the said Dame Issobell and the lands No. 2 (b) by the said George Hammiltoun into the hands of the king who incorporated them into the free barony of Blaikburne, so that sasine taken at the tower and place of Poddokschaw should stand for the whole lands. Sasine given by the said Robert Hammiltoun of Bathgaitt to the said George Hammiltoun, and to James Hammiltoun, his brother german, attorney for the said Katherine Sinclare, at the said tower and place of Poddokschaw on 29th March 1613 |
