Title |
Charter of Sale by Robert Druipis, indweller of the town of Fischerraw, burgess of Mussilburgh, with consent of Giles Scot, his spouse, whereby, in implement of a contract (of even date herewith) entered into between them, on the one part, and Archibald Erle, pedlar, indweller in the town of Monktounhall, and Catherine Finlay, his spouse, on the other part, and in consideration of certain sums of money paid to them, they sold to the said Archibald Erle and spouse and the longer liver of them in conjunct infeftment, and the heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated between them, whom failing, to the lawful and nearest heirs or assignees of the said Archibald whomsoever, the east fore house, with the back houses of the same of the tenement of land which pertained to the late Ninian Oisburne, together with the east half of the close and yard of the said tenement pertaining to the said houses, lying on the north side of the town of Fischerraw, between the land of the late William Hammiltoun on the east, and the land of Henry Smart on the west: To be held from the granter of the bailies, burgesses and community of the burgh of Mussilburgh, rendering therefor one half of the burgh ferms and other duties payable for the said tenement. Witnesses John Scot, Walter Smart, bailie of Mussilburgh, David Hill and Thomas Sandersoun, officers there, and James Pincartoun, servitor of George Diksoun, clerk of the burgh of Mussilburgh.
Signed by the granters and witnesses. The granters who cannot write sign with their hands led at the pen by George Diksone and John Barbour, notaries public. The seal of Patrick Robertson is appended. For description see `Macdonald's Scottish Armorial Seals', No. 2293. |
