Title |
Charter of Sale by Robert Wardlaw, son and heir of the late Mr. James Wardlaw, advocate, whereby in implement of a contract (dated 4th July 1612) entered into between him with consent of Margaret Forrester, his spouse, on the one part, and Walter Stewart, brother-german of Henry Stewart of Craggihall, on the other part, and in consideration of the sum of 1400 merks Scots paid to him by the said Walter Stewart, he sold to him (1) 2½ acres of land with pertinents lying within the bounds of Newheavin and sheriffdom of Edinburgh, between the lands formerly pertaining to Robert Bartane of Ovir Barnetoun on the south and west, the common king's highway on the north, and an acre of land pertaining to the Altar of the Holly Blood on the east; (2) an acre of land with pertinents lying within the foresaid bounds, between the lands of the late William Bell on the east, the lands of James Thomsoun on the west, the Hilheid and drop-fall of the same on the north, and the common passage of highway on the south; (3) 6 particates of land with pertinents lying within the foresaid bounds between the lands of James Thomsoun on the east, the common passage on the south, the lands of the late John Andirsoun on the west, and the Hilheid and drop-fall of the same on the north; (4) 7 particates of land with pertinents lying contiguous between the lands of the late Patrick Bruntscheillis on the east, the lands of the late Robert Andirsone, baker, on the west, the common highway on the south, and the passage to the ebb and flow of the sea on the north; and (5) one-half of 3 acres of land which formerly pertained to George Thomsone with pertinents lying within the bounds of the port and lands of Newheavin, between the lands of the late Thomas Hoppringill on the west, the lands of the late John Crawfurde of Bonytoun on the east and south, and the king's highway on the north redeemable on payment of the sum of 1400 merks Scots, redemption being suspended till Whitsunday 1616, and of which acres and particates of lands four acres are presently occupied by Archibald Gibsoun, skipper, indweller in Leith, and other 5 acres by John Wardlaw in Leith: To be held de me for payment of one penny Scots in name of blench farm.
