Title |
Instrument of Sasine under the hand of John Masoun, town clerk of Air, notary public, narrating that James Blair, one of the bailies of the burgh of Air, on the narrative that John Knycht, burgess of Air, died last vest and seised at the faith and peace of the king in (1) the merkland of old extent of Knoksoul; (2) the merkland of old extent of Drumfarnehill (occupied by John Hucheoun) which formerly pertained to John Broun [?skipper] lying in the territory of the Burrowfeild of said burgh; (3) six roods of land of David Ingrame lying in the said territory near the Foulcalsay between the lands formerly the property of the Friars Preachers of Air now of Alexander Craufurd of Kers on the north and the lands formely the property of Gilbert Broun now of John Adame in Monktoun on the south; (4) another six roods of land of the said David Ingrame formely pertaining to William Kirkpatrik, lying in the said territory in that portion of the Sands of the burgh called the Mid Sandis, between the lands formely the property of Cuthbert Wallace and now of the notary and the lands of Killocht on the north, and the lands formely the property of Gilbert Broun now of William Cuningham, bailie of Air, on the south; (5) a tenement of land formerly pertraining to John [?Cochren], John Dalrimpill and James Nicholl, back and fore with yard and pertinents, lying on the west side of the High Street of Air facing (versus) the Mealmarket, between the tenement formerly the property of Alexander Lokhert and Patrick Hucheoun now of William Wylie [sailor] and James Wallace, notary, on the south, and the tenement formerly the property of William Cauldwell, Mariot Schaw, his spouse, and Archibald Jolie and now of John Caldow, merchant, and Robert Scot on the north; and (6) a tenement of land formerly the property of Alan Gardner and the late Andrew Lowdoun, mason, lying above the ancient tower in the Wood Gate (Via Nemoris) on the east side of the High Street of Air, between the tenement of the late John Gardner, fuller, on the south and the tenement of the late Adam Bisset, weaver, and David Blair, pedlar (veator), on the north, gave sasine of said subjects to John Knycht, his son: To be held, Nos. 1-4 supra, of the provost bailies council and community of Air in feu-farm for payment of the feu-farm and other duties, and Nos. 5 and 6 of the king in free burgage for service of burgh used and wont.
