Title |
Procuratory of Resignation by Williame Cockburne of Skirling, whereby, in terms of a contract (dated 1st May and registered in the Books of Council 5 June 1610) entered into between him with consent of Dame Jane Herries, his "guddame", and Jane Hammiltoun, his spouse, on the one part and James Lockhart of Lie, on the other part, he constituted Archibald Dowglas, macer, his procurator, for resigning the lands of Hewedes (formerly annexed to the barony of Skirling) lying in the parish of Carlouke and sheriffdom of Lanarke into the hands of the King in favour of the said James Lockhart, and the heirs male lawfully gotten betwixt him and the late Jane Weir, his spouse, whom failing, the heirs male lawfully gotten or to be gotten between him and Jane Auchinleck, his present spouse, whom failing, his nearest and lawful heirs male of the name of Lockhart and bearing the arms of the House of Lie, and his assignees whomsoever.
