Title |
Charter by Patrick Hammiltoune of Lewingstoune and Eufame Setoune, his spouse, whereby in implement of a contract (dated at Linlythqw and Clerkintone 26th May and 23rd August 1604) entered into between them, with consent of John Cokburne of Clerkintoune for his interest, on the one part, and Alexander, Earl of Linlythqw, on the other part, they granted to the said Earl and to Helenor his spouse, and the longer liver of them in conjunct infeftment and the heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated between them, whom failing, to the lawful and nearest heirs male of the said Earl bearing his arms and name, and to his assignees whomsoever, the lands of Mekill Parkley, with the teind sheaves thereof included which were never separated from the stock, lying in the sheriffdom of Linlythqw in special warrandice of the lands conveyed to them in charter No. GD86/353: To be held de me for payment to the said Patrick Hammiltoune of 1d Scots in name of blench farm and of £8 Scots to Ludovick, Duke of Lennox, superior of the said lands, in name of feu-farm on their entry thereto: With precept of sasine addressed to Sir John Bruce of Kingawill, knight. Witnesses, Alexander Lewingstone, apparent of Westquarter, Robert Martene, burgess of Linlythqw, William Lichtbodye, servitor of the said Patrick Hammiltoune, Andrew Ker, clerk of the sheriffdom and burgh of Linlythqw, Robert Ker, notary public, his son, Claud Hammiltoune, brother of the said Patrick Hammiltoune and George Hay, servitor of the said Earl.
